Subject: 26.11.02 Computational Chemist, Senior Scientist, Japan

We’re seeking a Computational Chemist to join the Schrödinger Therapeutics Group as a Senior Scientist in our mission to transform the discovery of therapeutics and materials!

Our drug discovery group of over 60 scientists includes designers, modelers, computational chemists, medicinal chemists, crystallographers, biochemists, and biologists with experience working on all common target classes and therapeutic areas. The group is supported by more than 100 software developers and engineers, as well as a large scale computer infrastructure. Four of the programs we’ve worked on in the past seven years have progressed into the clinic; two are still progressing through trials and two have been approved by the FDA.

This employee will be hired at the Senior Scientist level.

Who will love this job:

  • A structure-based drug designer who has experience in at least two of the following molecular modeling areas: virtual ligand screening, computationally-driven lead optimization, AI/machine learning, molecular dynamics, quantum mechanics, cheminformatics, ADMET/QSPR
  • An excellent communicator with experience in one or more other disciplines of relevance to drug discovery, such as synthetic organic chemistry, pharmacology, toxicology, formulation, biochemistry, physical chemistry, or analytical chemistry
  • A team player who enjoys working in interdisciplinary environments and has some background in programming/scripting and/or chemically-aware databases
  • An accomplished pharma/biotech professional

What you’ll do:

  • Support active drug discovery projects as a computational chemist/modeler
  • Collaborate across global, cross-functional teams in multiple languages, accounting for differences in time zone and work culture
  • Work closely with internal software development teams to improve our drug discovery technologies

What you should have:

  • PhD in computational chemistry, organic chemistry, or physical chemistry
  • Postdoctoral experience and/or at least one year of industry experience is preferred
  • Business level proficiency in English and Mandarin
  • Business level proficiency in Japanese preferred, but not required

Pay and Perks:

Schrödinger understands that it’s people that make a company great. Because of this, we’re prepared to offer a competitive salary, bonus plan, and benefits, which includes mutual-aid retirement plans, over three weeks of paid vacation time, numerous company holidays, a parental and family care leave program, and healthcare through our partnership with the Japanese Health Insurance Association, and professional development opportunities including trainings and continuous education support.

Why Schrödinger:

You will join a global scientific organization developing and applying advanced computational technologies to improve human health and quality of life. This role offers the opportunity to work with leading life-science organizations in Japan, contribute to important scientific challenges, collaborate with international experts, and shape the adoption of next-generation computational methods in drug discovery.
