Astex Pharmaceuticals is a world leader in innovative drug discovery and 
development. The company has successfully applied its proprietary 
Fragment-Based Drug Discovery (FBDD) platform to generate multiple new 
drug candidates that are progressing in clinical development.  
Successful collaborations have led to two launched oncology drugs 
(Kisqali partnered with Novartis and Balversa partnered with Janssen). 
And to this day, Astex continues its relentless pursuit for innovative 
solutions that can help us in the fight against cancer and CNS disorders
 
The Opportunity  
  
We currently have an opportunity within our Computer-Aided Drug Design 
(CADD) group in Cambridge, UK for a dynamic, passionate molecular modeller,
with a proven record of performing high calibre science.
The successful candidate will be applying cutting edge structure-based 
design methods and state of the art cheminformatics tools to assist our 
drug discovery programs, working closely with biologists, structural 
biologists and medicinal chemists.  The role will also involve 
collaborating with our in-house software development team to expand and 
enhance our proprietary modelling tools.

Requirements

 PhD in computational chemistry or a related field, ideally with 
 experience of modern simulation methods as applied in the context of 
 drug design.
 Good communication skills will be essential
 Experience of programming / scripting would be a distinct advantage 

Experience of working in drug discovery teams is not a requirement and the
role would be suitable for someone who has recently qualified with a PhD 
or has a few years post-doctoral experience.
