Background: The Bioinformatics Branch at the U.S FDAs National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR) is seeking postdoctoral fellows interested in joining our Bioinformatics research team. Candidates in all fields of computational chemistry and chemoinformatics are welcome. Experience and skills on managing and developing large chemical database add a plus. The positions require a diverse range of expertise in molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulations, database development, machine learning, statistics, computer programming and biology. The candidates are expected to conduct computational chemistry and cheminformtics research and author scientific publications. The mission of NCTR is to conduct peer-review scientific research that supports and anticipates FDAs current and future regulatory needs. NCTR is an equal opportunity/affirmative employer. Requirement: We are looking for creative, self-motivated individuals who have the ability and desire to pursue solutions to challenging and interdisciplinary problems in a fast-paced research environment. Preferred, the big plus but not required, skills include a) protein structure modeling; b) molecular dynamics simulations; 3) database development. Only applicants who meet the following requirements will be considered for the position: 1) Stayed in USA for 3 years in the last 5 years; 2) A Ph.D. degree in a relevant scientific discipline or will defend Ph.D. in less than 6 months; 3) U.S. citizenship or permanent resident or willing to convert to J-1 status or F-1 with OPT; 4) Proficiency with at least one programming language (C, C++, Python, Perl, Java, etc.); 5) Experience with computational chemistry software packages such as Schrodinger, AMBER, AutoDock, and PyMOL; 6) Excellent oral and written communication skills; 7) Good judgment, clear sense of purpose, and accountability. References: Three references are required, including current supervisor. Terms: Renew yearly, up to 3 years. Compensation: The starting salary is about US $66,214 (increasing yearly).
