Subject: 22.04.13 Postdoctoral Researcher in Structural Bioinformatics, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York, NY
An immediate position is open for a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Schlessinger lab of structural bioinformatics and computational chemistry
(https://icahn.mssm.edu/profiles/avner-schlessinger) at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York.
The Schlessinger lab is studying different mechanisms of disease by combining approaches from computational and chemical biology.
It has an NIH-funded opening for a project studying protein kinases, as a part of the Illuminating the Druggable Genome (IDG) program.

The group is looking for a motivated, recent PhD graduate, with a strong background in structural bioinformatics or computational chemistry,
to work on collaborative projects as a part of an interdisciplinary team. The applicant should have strong analytical skills, as well as be independent,
and have experience leading a project to completion.

Specific Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and application of structural bioinformatics pipeline that integrates different omics
data to generate predictive models of biological activities. The postdoctoral researcher will also collaborate with various computational and experimental
labs to characterize signaling proteins that are important for various diseases.

Position Requirements:

- PhD in bioinformatics, biophysics, chemistry, physics, computer science, or related field, with a proven record of programming skills.
- Significant experience and knowledge of computational structural biology. In particular, experience in the development and / or application
of the following: structural modeling, molecular docking, or sequence analysis methods.
- Keen interest in the application of quantitative approaches, including machine learning, to address biological problems, in collaboration with
  experimental biologists.
- Fluent programming skills in Python, C++ or Java are essential. Experience with machine learning, deep learning, statistics, R and SQL would be a bonus.
- Highly motivated and creative candidates with a strong record of publication are encouraged to apply.
Applicants should email a CV, a brief description of research interests and experience, and list of 3 references to Dr. Avner Schlessinger (avner.schlessinger[at]mssm.edu)
