We are looking to appoint an outstanding individual as Executive/Senior Director of Computational Sciences to lead and grow HitGen's computational sciences capability at this exciting point in the company's journey. LOCATION Chengdu, China RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Lead HitGen's computational sciences capability, consisting of specialist teams for DNA encoded library (DEL) design, DEL synthesis data mining, screening data analysis/mining, cheminformatics, bioinformatics, computer-aided drug design, virtual screening, artificial intelligence applications in drug discovery projects; 2. Ensure the capability meets the annual business, research and organisational development objectives set by the company; 3. Develop the capability strategy to ensure scientific excellence, quality of output, and operational efficiency; 4. Drive continuous improvements to obtain operational efficiency and reliability in delivering results to projects; 5. Drive innovation in assay and screening to meet the Lead Generation Units medium and long term development goals; 6. Build the organisation and people for sustainable project delivery and growth; 7. Ensure the capability's operations meet the safety and relevant regulations; 8. Provide leadership in interactions with external collaborators; 9. Provide specific scientific and technical input to projects where needed; and 10. Contribute to the company's overall strategy and management. REQUIREMENTS 1. PhD in computational chemistry, bioinformatics, computational sciences, or related fields; 2. 10+ years of experience and track record in the development and/or applications of computational chemistry, molecular modelling, drug design and data analysis methods and software for drug discovery in the pharmaceutical industry or an equivalent setting; 3. Demonstrated experience in leading computational sciences team focused on structure-based drug design, virtual screening, QSAR, pharmacophore development, cheminformatics, bioinformatics, and/or machine learning; 4. Proficiency in a programming languages (such as C/C++, Python, Java, etc), computational software (such as Schrodinger) and a good working knowledge of common databases, resources and tools; 5. Proficiency in working with commonly used operating systems such as Unix/Linux, Windows for workstations and computing farms; 6. Strong ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact; and 7. Strong English (Chinese also desirable) verbal and written communication skills to convey complex concepts and computational analyses to influence diverse audiences.
