Postdoctoral fellow at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Little Rock, AR

The Structural and Computational Biology Lab at Arkansas Childrens Nutrition Center ( ), directed by Dr. Sree Chintapalli, is recruiting an outstanding postdoctoral scholar who will have an appointment in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). The primary focus of the Lab is to understand the molecular level interactions of globular proteins with intracellular metabolites, and how these events impact in cellular processes. The position demands a strong technical background in protein biochemistry, molecular biology and structural biology with computational background. This position will provide opportunities to collaborate with a broad spectrum of scientists working at the cutting edges of membrane biology research, and to be in an environment at the ACNC that encompasses basic science through translational and clinical research.

Applicants should have a PhD degree in Biotechnology/Biochemistry or related field, and must have research experience in multi-disciplinary research areas such as protein biochemistry, structural biology (preferably computational modeling and/or x-ray crystallography), and molecular biology, and candidates should have a publication track record. The position requires basic working knowledge in the area of computational biology. S/He develops new study protocols, performs data analysis and develops new analytical approaches; assists in writing grant proposals and research related publications.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in biochemistry, biophysics, computational biology, or related field
  • Experience in Computational and biochemical/bioanalytical or structural biology techniques
  • Experience in Molecular Dynamic Simulations
  • Knowledge in protein-protein or protein-ligand interactions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in protein biochemistry
  • Comfortable working in a Linux-based High Performance Computing environment
  • Creative problem solver able to draw conclusions from complex datasets and present them in a clear and understandable way
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to communicate findings internally and externally


  • Research design, analyze research studies, maintain research database, statistical analysis
  • Develop new study protocols
  • Perform data analysis
  • Assist in the design and methods for submitting pilot research grants and extramural funding sources including NIH and NSF programs
  • Assist in writing papers, reports and research administrative tasks
  • Collaborate with the ACNC team and other collaborators
  • Work closely with basic science and clinical faculty in planning new research projects
