We are looking for a Ph.D. student
Job Location: CULGI B.V., Leiden, The Netherlands 
Position Type: 0.8-1 FTE, 3 years, fixed-term 
Eligibility: Residency within the European Union, but outside 
The Netherlands, Starting date: 1 July 2019

About us: 
CULGI is a globally operating high-tech company based in the Leiden 
BioScience Park that develops computational chemistry software. 
We offer our software in combination with services to clients, 
so they can develop innovative new chemical mixtures. We work closely
with our customers to provide them a tailored CULGI solution. 

How you would fit in: 
You are an enthusiastic team player with a computational background in
chemistry, biotech or life sciences. You have excellent organizational
skills, a good sense for software programming in terms of design and
implementation. We are looking for a self-supportive, multi-tasker who
thrives on getting things done and picks up tasks proactively. You
will work in a network training program funded by the European Union
where you will have the possibility to perform part of the work at
other partners in the network. Your goal will be to develop tools for
data mining and develop user interfaces for medical devices and work
on interface applications in the field of biosensors. You will be
expected to present your work at conferences, write scientific papers
and finally write a dissertation leading to a PhD degree from Leiden 
Institute of Chemistry in the group of Prof. Hans Fraaije. At CULGI 
you will be part of an ambitious, multidisciplinary team. You will
be able to make an impact and have an interest in business development. 
We are looking for somebody who will share our ambition and joy to 
accelerate the development and growth of CULGI.

Your letter of motivation and CV should show that you have: 
- MSc degree in computational science with relation to biotechnology, 
chemistry or life science
- Experience in (graphical) software design and/or machine learning 
is a plus
- Commercial or professional industrial experience is a plus
- Excellent communication and social skills
- Team player with strong organizational skills 
- Fluent in written and spoken English
