Subject: 18.11.02 Unique Dually Mentored Postdoc Position in Modeling Calcium Channels, Chicago
A postdoctoral position is available, jointly supported by the Zhou biophysics group at University of Illinois Chicago (http://chem.uic.edu/profiles/huan-xiang-zhou/) and the Rios calcium signaling lab at Rush University (https://www.rushu.rush.edu/research/departmental-research/physiology-and-biophysics-research/laboratory-eduardo-r%C3%ADos-phd). The postdoc will integrate computation and experiment to develop mechanistic models for structure-function studies of human ryanodine receptors in health and disease. The dual mentoring by two PIs with complementary expertise in computation and in ion channel physiology, in collaboration with a large clinical network, will provide an excellent training opportunity. The following qualifications are required: -- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, or related fields within the past 3 years -- A minimum of two first-author papers in rigorously peer-reviewed journals -- Experience in computational studies of ion channels or other membrane proteins, including running molecular dynamics and related simulations -- Proficiency in computer coding If you meet these requirements and are interested in applying, please send cv in pdf to hzhou43 (at) uic.edu. Candidates who have been involved in prior computational/experimental collaborations are especially encouraged to apply. Experience with drug screening is a plus.NOTE THAT E-MAIL ADDRESSES HAVE BEEN MODIFIED!!!
