A global system without dependence on fossil sources for energy and 
materials requires new methods for the production of chemicals. In a 
larger project with partners from KTH and Stockholm University, a 
completely new type of composite material develops where simple and 
accessible reagents, such as water and carbon dioxide, are used to 
build complex molecules with high value. The composite material 
consists of an electrocatalyst and a synthesis catalyst, where the 
first converts water into hydrogen or carbon dioxide into carbon 
monoxide, while the other uses the hydrogen or carbon dioxide to 
build advanced structures. In this project we will develop new 
computational methods for simulations of the electrocatalysts. 
Specifically, methods will be developed that will allow for studying 
molecular catalysts bound to surfaces. The project will be conducted 
in collaboration between Mrten Ahlquist's group at Theoretical 
Chemistry and Biology and Licheng Sun's Group at Organic Chemistry.

To be admitted to postgraduate education (Chapter 7, 39  
hogskolefrordningen), the applicant must have basic eligibility 
in accordance with either of the following:

passed a degree at advanced level,
completed course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits at advanced level, or
in any other way acquired within or outside the country acquired 
essentially equivalent knowledge.
