Subject: 18.05.30 Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Computational Chemistry, Protein Modeling)
We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow, starting immediately, for a position in protein modeling with constrained molecular dynamics, incorporating experimental data into the structural modeling process. The project involves exploring ligand binding and inhibition in kinases including screening large numbers of small molecules for kinase inhibition and/or blocking of the native ligand binding. This combination of large scale protein dynamics and high throughput screening thus also requires skills related to cheminformatics data preparation and analysis. The postdoc will be shared between Kathleen Durkin in the College of Chemistry and Martyn Smith in the School of Public Health, University of California, Berkeley.
Minimum Qualifications: PhD in Computational Biology/Chemistry/Biochemistry or related field. The applicant should have significant experience in molecular dynamics of biomolecules using such software as Amber or Namd (or related), experience in ligand-protein docking, and experience with high throughput small molecule screening. In addition the position requires linux command line skills, and good knowledge of Python, Perl, Bash, or related scripting languages. Familiarity with SMILES, InChi and other structural encoding concepts is a must, along with a wide range of molecular file formats and their interconversion. Strong data analysis skills are required.
Applicants should send a pdf (or pdfs) containing a cover letter, a CV, and names/emails of 3 potential references to (durkin-*-berkeley.edu).
Background Check: An offer of employment is contingent on a satisfactory pre-employment background check.
Benefits: University of California offers outstanding benefits to eligible employees and their dependents including health, life, dental, and vision insurance.
University of California is committed to diversity and is an equal opportunity/equal access employer.NOTE THAT E-MAIL ADDRESSES HAVE BEEN MODIFIED!!!
