Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a driven and innovative 
Postdoctoral Scientist in Computational Approaches to Design of Novel 
Biotherapeutics to join our Biotherapeutics Discovery department located 
at our Ridgefield, CT facility.

As a Postdoctoral Scientist, you will be a primary driver of fundamental 
research and technology innovation in the area of Antibody Engineering 
and Biotherapeutics Discovery. In particular, we are recruiting for 
a creative computational scientist to enable development of computational 
workflows to identify and optimize Fabs, scFv and multispecifics. 

The ideal candidate for this position will be an independently driven 
computational biophysicist / biologist who can apply molecular modeling 
and simulation based approaches to simultaneously optimize molecular 
recognition, efficient heavy-light chain pairings, antibody developability 
properties, safety, and PK/PD in a synergistic manner. The scientist will 
be expected to initiate and publish research findings to internal 
and external scientific community.

Duties & Responsibilities:

	Provide molecular modeling and simulation based inputs to research 
        plans directed at the understanding and design of biotherapeutics.
 
	Implement structure-based strategies to generate and optimize 
        monoclonal, bispecific and multi-specific antibody formats and 
        contribute to discovery processes.

	Work with multi-disciplinary groups of experimentalists, including 
        those involved in protein expression, purification, biophysical 
        characterization and drug development.

	Proficiently execute assigned tasks in bioinformatics, 
        homology-based antibody modeling, molecular dynamics and 
        Monte-Carlo simulations.

	Establish an international reputation in area of expertise with 
        publication and conference participation; represent BIPI as 
        a scientific leader in field of expertise at both internal 
        and national/international conferences, meetings and organizations.

	Comply all applicable regulations, performing all work in a safe 
        manner; maintain proper records in accordance with SOPs and 
        policies.

	Contribute towards mentoring colleagues

	Other tasks assigned by the mentor time to time


Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:

	Original thinking, high level of motivation, and ability to work 
        independently as well as collaboratively

	Demonstrated creativity and initiative in driving cutting edge 
        research and good publication record

	Demonstrated knowledge of Antibody/Protein Engineering, hands-on 
        experience with  computer programming, molecular modeling, 
        simulations and data analyses

	Ability to collaborate with experimentalists and colleagues 
        interested in molecular biophysics

	Exceptional written and oral communication skills

Requirements Requirements

	PhD degree in computational biophysics, chemical engineering, 
        bioinformatics or related discipline with no more than 2 years 
        of postdoctoral experience

	Familiarity with scientific computing and at least one modern 
        computer programming language such as Python, Perl or C.

	Familiarity with MatLab or similar  mathematical modeling 
        software package

	Familiarity with Molecular modeling and simulation packages such 
        as MOE, BIOVIA, Schrodinger, NAMD, Gromacs and Amber.

	Strategic research planning ability and excellent written and 
        oral presentation skills
