Dow AgroSciences seeks an innovative Scientific Software Developer for 
developing Cheminformatics software located in Indianapolis, IN. The 
successful candidate will join the Chemistry Data Science and Informatics 
group within the Data Science Department and will interface with IT, 
software engineering, data scientists, and scientists across R&D.
 
The incumbent will play a key role in designing and implementing cutting 
edge Chemistry centric scientific tools. We are looking for a highly 
technical candidate with a track record of scientific software development
and excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an aptitude to 
write professional-grade code.
 
Key job responsibilities include:
*Support and enhance the existing Cheminformatics scientific computing 
platform
*Rapid prototyping, development, and automation of scientific tools
*Develop innovative software for integrating chemistry and biology data, 
data visualization, data analysis, data mining, molecule design, and 
scientific tools to enable R&D decisions
*Maintain Pipeline Pilot code and Pipeline Pilot servers
*Rewrite legacy code using modern technologies
*Help Crop Protection Discovery innovate faster through developing 
disruptive new tools and methods
*Ensure that all code is developed using IT best practices
*Integrate internal and external data sources
*Evaluate external tools and data
*Parallelize tools and algorithms on the cluster and in the cloud
*Work as a project leader
*Monitor advances in scientific computing to bring it in
 
This position is located at Dow AgroSciences world headquarters in 
Indianapolis, IN, USA on its modern and expanding campus. Domestic 
relocation support is provided for this position.

Education:
*Master's degree in Computer Science or related discipline
 
Required qualifications:
*Minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience
*At least 2 years of experience in scientific software design and development
*Proficient in Python, Unix, High-Performance Computing (HPC), 
Structured Query Language (SQL), Apache Subversion (SVN)
*Proficient with shell scripting and working in Unix and Windows environments
*Utilizes best practices and professional software development
*Agile, flexible implementer of high-quality scientific tools
*Very detail oriented with an aptitude to write high quality, robust code
*Strong written and verbal communication skills with good command of 
English language
*A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work
legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for
this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency 
(green card) process. 
 
Preferred qualifications:
*Proficient as system administrator for Linux servers
*Background in Chemistry, Biology, Math, Statistics, Data Science, 
or a STEM field
*Background in Pipeline Pilot, Java, Apache, client-server architectures, 
web development
*Experience in working in a high-performance computing environment
*Background in data mining, machine learning
*Experience in JavaScript and HTML
*Self-motivated problem solver who strives to understand the bigger picture
*A leader personality who takes pride and ownership in his/her work
*Some experience in project leadership
*Strong self-motivated team player
*A self-starter who can proactively identify opportunities
*Good networking skills
