Subject: 17.10.19 Ph.D. student in nano insulation materials (computations, synthesis and characterization), Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, Norway
The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) seeks a candidate
for a position as a Ph.D. student in the group of Prof. Bjorn Petter Jelle.

The candidate is expected to perform synthesis, characterization and
theoretical modeling (computations) of nano insulation materials.

We seek a candidate with (preferably):
* A strong computational background within the fields of quantum mechanics
(quantum chemistry or quantum solid-state physics), molecular mechanics,
  finite-element simulations, and/or Monte Carlo simulations. A M.Sc. thesis
with strong computational elements will be regarded as positive.

* Experience in chemical laboratory activities, at least from undergraduate
chemistry courses, as the project is very oriented towards synthesis and
characterization of new thermal insulation materials.

* University-level courses in quantum mechanics

* A general background in materials science, both theoretical and
  experimental.

NTNU offers an excellent academic environment and a very competitive
Ph.D. student salary. The application deadline is October 29, 2017.
