The Compound Management business unit of Evotec, a drug discovery solutions
international organization, offers a range of services to help organizations
build, grow, and/or manage small molecule collections to the highest quality
in support of high throughput biological screening. Our facility is home to
sample collections owned by governmental, not-for-profit, and commercial
organizations.  Our experience managing the U.S NIHs Molecular Libraries
Small Molecule Repository (MLSMR) as well as sample collections owned by
academic and commercial organizations allow us to deliver optimal solutions
for this critical function.

Description

The purpose of this position is to provide cheminformatics support for the
Compound Management Team.  As part of a team, the qualified individual will
participate in the development of a growing operation responsible for data
integrity and proper software functionality.  The position requires a highly
motivated individual with both project and administrative support expertise,
able to work in a high demand environment.  


Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Triage chemical compound data from suppliers, register data in our inventory database (Titian Mosaic)
  • Provide Pubchem updates and run protocols
  • Develop and run scripts to analyze compound inventory data and trends
  • Triage and apply filters to special acquisitions lists, as needed
  • Provide data on accepted compounds and deliver data files to customers
  • Interact with teammates from Evotec Project Management, Operations, Software Development, and Accounting departments, to rapidly satisfy customer needs, provide sound solutions to customer issues, and solve business problems
  • Serve as point person with Titan support team to quickly resolve any issues and address business needs
  • Configure required labware and workflows for clients as needed
  • Report generation and limited end-user support of customer ordering interface, API
  • Develop workflows (KNIME, SQL, Mosaic) to achieve cheminformatics needs
  • Provide various levels of project support (including, but not limited to, data entry, validate and confirm data for goods received, data generation and/or tracking and review) for fulfillment of client orders
  • Manage software upgrades and provide support for servers and instrument software related to inventory system including full system testing (Mosaic)
  • Perform testing of workflows and implemented changes to ensure business continuity
Required Qualifications:
  • Effective technical, communication, analytical, negotiation and teamwork skills
  • Excellence with project coordination
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple deadlines and associated pressures
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated attention to detail
  • Experience working with Web services
  • Must understand organic chemistry structural representations, including stereochemistry and bond types
  • Proficiency with chemical database, drawing, and structure manipulation software (Accelrys SciTegic Pipeline Pilot, KNIME, CambridgeSoft, ChemAxon, MDL, Daylight)
  • Relational database and SQL experience (using Oracle)
  • 3+ years of web design and programming in java, jsp, HTML, CGI/PHP, XML and java script
Preferred Qualifications:
  • UNIX file manipulation, directory navigation, and text editor use
  • Software development (HTML, Perl, Python, Java) a plus
  • Computer programming (HTML, Perl, Python, Java)
  • Experience in software engineering
  • Spring Frame Work
  • Scripting, HTML and CSS
  • UNIX/LINUX experience with Apache/Tomcat or other Unix/Linux serving tools
  • Experience working on Model-View-Controller projects
  • Prior experience or education in scientific field is a plus
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office for report generation
  • Knowledge of SharePoint for data collaboration would be desirable
  • Experience working with Hibernate
Education and experience: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Chemistry, Bio-chemistry, Biology or in a related life science with technical database experience Other Information: Employees must adhere to all applicable company policies and procedures.
