The Max Planck Institute for Chemical Energy Conversion in Mülheim an der Ruhr has been re-established in 2012 and the field of research has been aligned with the conversion of energy. Our scientists are engaged in basic processes that are essential within the storage and conversion of energy.

The department "Molecular Theory and Spectroscopy" is presently looking for candidates for a

Post Doctoral Fellow (f/m)
with a PhD degree in Theoretical Chemistry.

The postdoctoral position is available in the group of Dr. Róbert Izsák in theoretical method development. The successful candidate will be supervised by Dr. Róbert Izsák and Prof. Frank Neese.

The position is available immediately, preferably no later than March 2017. The position is initially for 12 months and is remunerated according to the labor agreement for public service (TVöD), E13. A prolongation is possible.

Job Description: The postdoctoral researcher will be supervised by Dr. Róbert Izsák and will pursue research on the topic "Excited state coupled cluster theory with local correlation methods". The project involves implementing, benchmarking and applying local correlation methods within various equations of motion frameworks (EE, IP, EA, STEOM). The candidate will have the opportunity to pursue pioneering research in theoretical method development and computational chemistry, both individually and collaboratively, working in the stimulating environment of a highly active and internationally renowned theoretical chemistry department of the Max Planck Society.

Qualifications: PhD degree in theoretical chemistry or a related discipline. The candidate must meet the following criteria: 1) familiarity with the basic mathematical formulation and physical background of wave function based quantum chemical methods, 2) experience with the implementation of complex computational algorithms.
