The Director, Research Cyberinfrastructure Center will provide overall Direction of UCI's new Research Cyberinfrastructure Center (RCIC). The RCIC will serve as a focal point and service center for accessing, providing, coordinating and enhancing research Information Technology facilities and services ranging from desktop to high performance computing and engagement with national networks and supporting a secure computing environment. The Director will provide overall leadership in establishing the RCIC, as outlined in the document A Vision for Research Cyberinfrastructure at UCI found here: http://sites.uci.edu/rci. The Director reports to the Chief Information Officer, with a dotted line report to the Vice Chancellor of Research. OIT supports the RCIC administratively and provides data center and other supplementary services. The RCI Director serves as a member of the CIO's senior leadership team, to facilitate integration and synergies with educational technology and other campus services. The Director will be responsible for a staff of five to ten individuals that is expected expand with development of the RCIC. The Director oversees research IT services provided by the RCIC, and facilitates collaborative service relationships with other groups that provide related services, in support of all UCI faculty and research staff. The Director chairs the faculty governance body that will provide RCIC oversight. The Director coordinates within OIT and with partner organizations such as the UCI Libraries, Data Sciences Initiative, Calit2, and academic schools.
