Schrödinger, a technology leader specializing in software solutions for life science research and development, is seeking a computational chemist in its New York office to provide technical support to clients using our computer-aided drug design and materials science products.

The successful candidate will help customers use effectively utilize the tools within the Schrödinger software suites primarily through telephone and email discussions. Typical topics include scientific issues, software usability, and performance. The position entails logging of problems and enhancement requests, writing custom Python scripts for customers, channeling customer feedback to the development team, and helping to diagnose problems in software.


  • Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering, Computational Biochemistry, Computational Chemistry, or a related field of study
  • 3+ years of experience with molecular mechanics and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations; Free Energy Perturbation and related methods; Desmond, Gromacs, Amber, and/or CHARMM molecular dynamics simulation packages; quantum mechanics and methods with a focus on structure-based and ligand-based drug design; molecular modeling theory and applications; and statistical thermodynamics


  • Background in Computational Chemistry and experience with pharmaceutical applications of molecular modeling software tools
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • A broad knowledge of molecular modeling theory and applications
  • Experience with scripting languages (Python preferred)
  • Ability to think on your feet
  • Experience with customer support preferred
  • Sysadmin experience of HPC and GPU compute resources
