This position is funded by a Bayer Life Science Collaboration grant, which
promotes state-of-the-art innovative research within the global 
Bayer organization. The successful applicant will be part of a 
cross-organizational team, working on applying deep learning within the
R&D organization on our existing big data sets. She / he will contribute 
to the implementation of a deep learning platform by providing the link 
between the wet lab scientists / data and deep learning experts.

Your tasks and responsibilities
Visiting Scientist (2-year appointment)
Actively contributing member of cross-organizational team, including 
scientists from both our Pharma and Crop Science divisions across Europe.
Contribute to the implementation of a deep learning platform by providing 
the link between toxicologists and deep learning experts
Make and implement recommendations on improvements of the computational 
pipeline used for data analysis of crop science and drug development 
Pro-actively and regularly report results and updates to the project lead 
and during project meetings

Who You Are ?
PhD degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, computational 
chemistry, computer science or related fields
Experience with state of the art machine learning methods and model 
selection concepts 
Excellent programming skills in Python are essential, additional skills in
R or C would be of advantage
Ideal candidates would have expertise in handling, processing and 
analyzing toxicity related data sets
Proficiency in writing industrial-grade code
Interest in performing highly versatile integrative data analyses
Experience using a Linux high performance environment
A background in Biology or Toxicology is a plus
Previous experience with deep learning would be of advantage
Willingness to travel regularly
Based in Sophia Antipolis (France) 
Fluent in English, good command of French and/or German is a plus
