The Institute of Nanotechnology (INT) has an exciting opportunity, initially limited to two years: PhD Student Position (f/m) in Theoretical Chemistry (67%) Project description: In the framework of the Collaborative Research Center Cooperative Effects in Homo- and Heteronuclear Complexes (3MET) (DFG SFB-TRR 88) a PhD project is available in the field of theoretical chemistry entitled Quantum Chemical Investigations on the Magnetic Properties of Binuclear 3d/4f Complexes. In close collaboration with other theoretical and experimental projects of the Collaborative Research Center 3MET this project involves the development and application of quantum chemical methods in order to obtain a detailed understanding of the magnetic properties of 3d/4f complexes. Job description: The tasks for this position include - Extension of quantum chemical methods and development of analytical tools - High level ab initio calculations on open shell systems Qualification: You have a master degree in chemistry or a related subject. You have - experience in quantum chemical calculations and a strong background in theoretical chemistry - good programming skills and experience with the Linux operating system - a broad interest in transition metal chemistry A good knowledge of the English language (spoken and written) is mandatory, at least basic knowledge of German is desirable. Salary: The salary is based on the collective agreement in the civil service salary group E 13 TV-L Starting date: January 1st, 2017 Equal opportunity is part of our personnel policy.
