Post-Doctoral Associate/Research Scientist Positions In Traffic Flow Theory Division of Engineering NYU Abu Dhabi

The Division of Engineering at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) is inviting applications for a multi-year fully funded Post-Doctoral Associate position. Highly qualified candidates may also be considered for a Research Scientist position.

The terms of the position are highly attractive: competitive salary, flexible working environment, annual home-leave travel allowance, generous housing and relocation benefits, and educational subsidies for children.

A qualified applicant must possess the following:

  • A PhD in engineering, physics, applied mathematics, statistics, or related field (backgrounds in computational physics are particularly encouraged to apply).
  • Demonstrable knowledge in statistics, (linear and convex) optimization, and at least one of the following areas:
    • statistical mechanics,
    • computational fluid dynamics (CFD),
    • dynamic programming and optimal control,
    • numerical methods for solving systems of differential equations (both ordinary and partial),
    • statistical tools for large datasets.
  • Hands-on experience in computer programming using one or more of the following tools: Matlab, Python, C/C++/C#, and Java.
  • Experience with Mathematica, Maple, and/or R is a plus.

In addition to the above, the following are desirable qualifications:

  • experience with visualization tools for dynamical systems (e.g., CFD visualization tools),
  • experience with geospatial analysis, and
  • experience with traffic simulation tools (both developing new simulation tools and customizing commercial tools).
