From: jobs at ccl.net (do not send your application there!!!) To: jobs at ccl.net Date: Wed Dec 16 04:59:25 2009 Subject: 09.12.16 PostDoc position in chemoinformatics/compound library design The Laboratoire dInfochime of the Strasbourg University (Prof. A. Varnek, http://infochim.u-strasbg.fr/index.php) offers a 12-month postdoctoral fellowship in the field of chemoinformatics. The goal of this project, under the supervision of Dr. Dragos Horvath and in collaboration with a major pharmaceutical company, is to design novel intelligent compound library enrichment strategies, i.e. to conceive, program and apply novel tools aimed at prioritizing commercially available, or virtual but chemically feasible compounds, according to their potential interest to enrich the compound collection of the industrial partner. The candidate must have an expertise in chemoinformatics, in order to be able to program software tools that are both chemically meaningful and fast enough in order to browse through the millions of molecule candidates accessible in electronic databases. Expertise in the fields of molecular descriptors (knowledge of existing fragment counts, pharmacophore fingerprints and design of new terms), structure-activity relationships and machine learning is highly appreciated. Therefore, the candidate is expected to have a Ph.D. degree in the field of empirical computational chemistry (chemoinformatics, force field approaches) of small organic molecules. Additionally, expertise in organic/medicinal chemistry would of course be of added value.. Email to horvath**chimie.u-strasbg.frNOTE THAT E-MAIL ADDRESSES HAVE BEEN MODIFIED!!! All @ signs were changed to ** to fight spam. Before you send e-mail, you need to change ** to @ For example: change joe**big123comp.com to joe@big123comp.com Please let your prospective employer know that you learned about the job from the Computational Chemistry List Job Listing at http://www.ccl.net/jobs. If you are not interested in this particular position yourself, pass it to someone who might be -- some day they may return the favor. |
