From: jobs at ccl.net (do not send your application there!!!) To: jobs at ccl.net Date: Fri Oct 16 14:44:39 2009 Subject: 09.10.16 Philadelphia Area - Computational Chemist - Designing Novel Molecules Vitae Pharmaceuticals is an emerging pharmaceutical company dedicated to being a leader in rapidly discovering, developing and commercializing innovative, high value small molecule medicines, focusing on known biologic targets with significant unmet medical need. Vitae's lead programs are rapidly advancing in therapeutic areas that include cardiovascular disease, diabetes and metabolic disease and Alzheimer's disease. Vitae's approach to value generation begins with a unique discovery engine. Vitae was founded with the goal to create a paradigm breakthrough in the field of structure-based drug design. CONTOUR, the result, is a computational structure based design platform that delivers superior drug design precision, novelty and speed, yielding high value drug candidates. A successful candidate will be responsible for designing novel molecules using proprietary structure based design tools, and be integral part of the medicinal chemistry efforts at Vitae. In addition a thorough knowledge of and expertise in the use of commercial software applications for structure based design is essential. An excellent understanding of physical chemistry, specifically thermodynamic principles, with experience in applying it to structure-based drug design is essential. A good understanding of organic chemistry required for designing synthetically viable compounds is highly desirable. The designed compounds with a good physical chemistry rationale and backed by synthetic feasibility are expected to be presented on a weekly basis to the project team. A Ph.D. in one of the following fields is required: physical organic, computational chemistry, physical chemistry or its equivalent. Expertise in computational structure based design methodologies including de novo design, docking and scoring, free energy perturbation, quantum mechanical methods, and SAR analysis is highly desired. 5+ years of experience in working closely with medicinal chemists is essential. Excellent written and oral communication skills are highly desirable. Please send CV to careers!^!vitaerx.comNOTE THAT E-MAIL ADDRESSES HAVE BEEN MODIFIED!!!
