Subject: 09.10.15 Postdoctoral Scientist in Computational Chemistry Studies of Proteins in Solution
Immediate opening for a postdoctoral research associate
in the area of molecular dynamics simulations is available
in the Department of Chemistry at The University of Texas at San Antonio.
Research will be performed under the supervision of Prof. Orkid Coskuner
 (http://www.utsa.edu/chem/coskuner-weber.html). Research will be directed
towards the development and application of computational techniques (QM/MM,
ab initio molecular dynamics simulations, classical molecular dynamics
simulations, advanced sampling methods etc.) to study the molecular
mechanism of protein folding, mis-folding, aggregation in aqueous
solution.

Requirements:
1)PhD degree in chemistry, biophysics or related field.
2)Expert knowledge of molecular dynamics simulations.
3)Excellence in the analysis of protein structures.
4)Sufficient programming skills to accelerate workflow and
  implement new methodologies.
5)Demonstrated proficiency in using computers, computer clusters
and supercomputer centers, and being able to prepare, run,
and analyze simulations and calculations independently.
6)Good analytical skills and working respectfully and effectively
  in a team environment.
7)Strong background in molecular dynamics simulations and
  computational chemistry.
8)Desire to communicate with our collaborators at the
National Institute of Standards and Technology, Rice University,
UTHSCSA, National Institutes of Health, and UTSA , who perform
  experimental studies.

Desired Skills:
1)Familiar with compiled and interpreted scripting languages.
2)Experience with parallel computing on supercomputer centers.
3)Experience in quantum chemical calculations.
4)Experience with tight binding semiempirical simulations.

UTSA is located in San Antonio, which is the seventh largest city in the
United States and is a rapidly growing, non-profit research, undergraduate
and graduate institution. Application from women and members of minority
groups are encouraged to apply. Initial appointment is for a year and is
renewable for additional years depending upon satisfactory performance
and funding.

Interested applicants should send a curriculum vita, copies of their
published papers, and names of three references via email to
