To: jobs at ccl.net Date: Thu Oct 8 16:36:32 2009 Subject: 09.10.08 Postdoctoral Position in Quantum Monte Carlo Electronic Structure Theory Postdoctoral Position in Quantum Monte Carlo Electronic Structure Theory College of William & Mary, Williamsburg, VA Description: A postdoctoral position in theoretical/computational physics/chemistry is available to further develop and apply a new auxiliary field quantum Monte Carlo method to a variety of molecular and extended systems on petascale supercomputers. The candidate will work jointly with Professors Henry Krakauer and Shiwei Zhang (Department of Physics, College of William & Mary). The position is available immediately and offers a competitive salary plus benefits. Initial appointment will be for a period of one year, with the possibility of extensions for additional years. Requirements: Applicants should have a PhD in Chemistry, Physics, or related discipline and a strong background in the development and application of ab initio electronic structure methods. Experience with major quantum chemistry or plane wave computational packages is desirable, as is exposure to high-performance computing and quantum Monte Carlo.
