Subject: 08.07.16 Postdoc position in Computational Chemistry/Biophysics/Biology and Bioinformatics (Univeristy of California, San Diego)
A postdoc position is open in Wei Wang's group (http://wanglab.ucsd.edu) in Department of Chemistry and Biochemsitry at University of California, San Diego. An ideal candidate should obtain Ph.D. in computational chemistry/biophysics/biology, is highly motivated and has extensive experience with computer modeling such as molecular dynamics simulation, free energy calculation, force field development, homology modeling and entropy calculation. Solid background in physics and statistics is required. Proficient programing skills are essential. Experience with AMBER is a plus. Our group is focused on studying the mechanisms of protein recognition. We are particularly interested in peptide recognition domains including SH3 and SH2 domains. We have taken interdisciplinary approaches that combine computer modeling and bioinformatics analysis to predict the binding specificity of these modular domains. We have also applied the similar approaches to predicting mutations of the HIV-1 protease that cause drug resistance. The expected postdoc will be responsible for developing new computational methods to tackle these challenging problems. Interested applicants should send CV and statement of research to wei-wang~!~ucsd.edu. Please also arrange three letters of recommendation sent directly to the above email address.NOTE THAT E-MAIL ADDRESSES HAVE BEEN MODIFIED!!!
