Subject: 08.07.01 POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN CATALYST DEVELOPMENT AT NOTRE DAME
A postdoctoral position in the area of virtual screening of catalyst
libraries for the selection of chiral ligands for asymmetric catalysis,
especially transition metal catalyzed hydrogenations and nucleophilic
additions to olefins.
This NSF-funded project uses the Q2MM methodology of Norrby and
coworkers to rapidly develop reaction-specific force fields and
use them for the prediction of enantioselectivity of a variety of
reactions. For lead references, see: Adv. Synth Cat, 2007, 349, 2647;
JCTC 2007, 3, 1765. The work will be performed in close collaboration
with the Helquist group at Notre Dame and the Norrby group in
Gothenburg (Sweden).

The ideal candidate should hold a Ph.D. in chemistry or a related
field and have significant experience in two or more of the following
areas:
- Computational and mechanistic metalorganic chemistry
- Force field development and transition state force fields
- Scripting and programming in C++
- Working in a collaborative environment with experimentalists
The position is available immediately and is initially for one year,
with renewals possible upon mutual agreement. Salary will depend on
experience
Qualified applicants should send a CV with publication list and description
of previous experience as well as the contacts of 3 references by email to
Olaf Wiest (owiest{}nd.edu).
Applications will be considered immediately until the position is filled.
