To: jobs at ccl.net Date: Tue Jun 24 23:34:47 2008 Subject: 08.06.24 Post-doctoral Position in Computational Quantum Chemistry, Texas A & M University (Qatar) Post-doctoral Position in Computational Quantum Chemistry Texas A & M University (Qatar) Description: ============ The Department of Chemistry at Texas A & M University (Qatar) invites applications for a post-doctoral position in the field of computational quantum chemistry. This is a full-time position working with a newly hired faculty member. (Qatar is located on a peninsula extending from the Arabian Peninsula into the Persian Gulf; Texas A & M has a campus there as part of the larger Education City initiative of the Qatar Foundation.) Texas A & M University at Qatar (TAMUQ) ( http://www.qatar.tamu.edu/ ) is a partnership of Texas A & M with the Qatar Foundation. TAMUQ recently relocated to a new, state-of-the-art 595,000 square foot building that was completed in May 2007. TAMUQ Chemistry labs are fully equipped with a broad array of modern analytical instrumentation, and TAMUQ has a significant computational infrastructure in place, which will be accessible to the post-doctoral researcher. The successful candidate is expected to be comfortable in a Linux environment with scripting and FORTRAN programming, and must be willing to work with the Gaussian suite of programs, both for development and applications. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to extensively publish in high-quality journals and present results at various conferences. As such, strong written and verbal communication skills are required. The candidate is also expected to be a team player and conform to the safety and environmental guidelines of the university. Minimum Qualifications: ===================== The successful candidate will have earned a Ph.D. in chemistry or a closely related field, and be prepared to join a team of highly motivated, research-directed, individuals.
