Subject: 08.06.12 Ph.D. and Post-doctoral Positions, Biomolecular Modeling and Drug Discovery
Positions are available at the University of Texas at Houston, in the area
of biomolecular modeling, drug discovery, and analysis of structure-function
relationship. Our research is conducted in an inter-disciplinary
environment, with many on-going collaborations with chemists, structural
biologists and biologists. We have access to large computing facilities
and use state-of-the-art simulation tools.

The ideal candidate for the Ph.D. positions will have completed his/her
Masters or equivalent degree in chemistry, (bio)physics, biochemistry,
structural biology, biotechnology, biology, or related disciplines.
Experience in programming and scripting would be beneficial. Strong oral
and written English skills are essential. Stipend and tuition may be
covered.

The ideal candidate for the post-doctoral positions will have a Ph.D. in
chemistry, biochemistry, physics or related field, and demonstrable
experience in two or more of these areas: molecular dynamics simulations
in biomolecular systems, statistical mechanics, enzymatic reactions,
protein modeling, structural biology, computer-aided drug discovery
(ligand- or structure-based). Programming and scripting abilities are
required, as fluency in oral and written English. Previous experience
with modeling/simulation packages and/or chemoinformatics tools could be
beneficial. Appointments are available for 1 year, renewable upon mutual
agreement.

The University of Texas at Houston is within the Texas Medical Center,
which is the largest medical district in the world. Houston has a very
affordable housing and general cost of living, and is very well connected
with US and the rest of the world.

Starting date is negotiable. Interested candidates should submit a cover
letter, detailed CV with publication list, a brief description of research
interests, and contact information for three references. Applications
