Biogen IDEC, Cambridge, MA has an opening for a Ph.D.-level molecular modeler
with primary responsibilities for implementation of novel computational
approaches to facilitate the discovery of small molecule and biologic drug 
candidates. The incumbent will be an independent research contributor
focused on applying  state-of-art computational methods for in silico 
screening, lead ID, lead optimization, statistical data mining and other 
techniques to target identification and validation, and subsequent
 small-molecule and protein drug design. This scientist work with biology 
and chemistry project teams to apply these technologies to different 
therapeutic area projects and is expected to play a proactive part in 
contributing to the new project initiatives.

Qualifications:
v	Ph.D. in molecular modeling, or equivalent, with 5+ years of 
relevant industrial experience; 
v	Advanced knowledge of computational chemistry and biology 
principles;
v	Proven track record of implementing novel computational methods for
 drug discovery;
v	Demonstrated ability to apply molecular modeling techniques to 
research projects; 
v	A strong background in medicinal chemistry and protein engineering;
v	Strong  scientific computing and software development/
implementation skills; 
v	Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively
 in a team environment
