Scientist/Senior Scientist - Computational Chemistry Plexxikon Inc

As a leader in structure-based drug discovery, Plexxikon is seeking a
highly motivated and experienced computational chemist to join our
Informatics Department. Working in a multidisciplinary team environment,
the successful candidate will use computational modeling and other
technologies to aid in the discovery and optimization of novel drug
candidates for targets in specific therapeutic programs. In this
position, you will play a critical role in providing input for inhibitor
design and lead optimization, along with a team of experienced scientists
in structural biology, assay biology, computational chemistry, and
medicinal chemistry. Plexxikon is a development-stage company with a
strong commitment to getting the best compounds into our growing pipeline.
This is a tremendous opportunity for a computational chemist to have a
direct impact on the discovery of future medicines.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with iterative
structure-guided lead generation with record of success. In-depth
knowledge of the principles of medicinal chemistry and pharmacology is
essential, as is broad experience in late stage lead optimization of
ADME/Tox properties. Preferred Candidates are also expected to have
experience in some of the following areas: combinatorial library design,
3D pharmacophore/docking approaches, molecular dynamics simulations, free
energy methods, QM/electronic structure calculation, and small molecule
conformational analysis. Programming experience in Perl, Python, Java,
and/or C/C++ is required.

This position requires a PhD in Chemistry, Pharmacology, or a closely
related field with 3+ years experience in the research environment of a
biotech or pharmaceutical company. A track record of accomplishments
demonstrating technical proficiency, independent thought, scientific
creativity, and collaboration with others is required, as is excellent
communication skill, both written and oral. Expert knowledge of
scientific principles and concepts in the field is expected, as is the
ability to serve as a resource for colleagues.

If you are interested in applying for this position, please submit your
resume or CV, cover letter, and include the job title in your application.
All submissions will be evaluated and interviews will be conducted for
those applicants who most strongly fit our needs.
