Molecular Modeller, Oxford, UK

Oxford NanoLabs

Oxford NanoLabs was established in June 2005 as a spin out from the Department of Chemistry at the University of Oxford, UK. Capitalising on the research achievements and associated Intellectual Property portfolio of Professor Hagan Bayley, the Company has been successful in attracting a talented and committed group of scientists and managers with the vision of creating a biosensor with the capability to electronically detect a wide variety of analytes with single molecule sensitivity. The Company is commercialising the electronic sensor technology platform.

Housed in modern laboratories within the Centre for Innovation and Enterprise on the Begbroke Science Park (Oxfordshire, UK), the Company offers excellent facilities and a stimulating innovative industrial environment.

The Role

We are creating genetic fusions of different proteins (for which crystal structures pre-exist, or can be themselves modelled), retaining the individual characteristics of both proteins whilst predicting and controlling the 3D structure of the novel chimeric protein, and specifically the interface between the two. We are seeking an exceptional individual with the drive and ability to advance our protein modelling efforts, and to guide the creation of a wide variety of proteins which will deliver the complex peptide geometries we desire. Extensive experience of homology modelling and molecular dynamics simulations is required to fulfil the role, and experience of protein-ligand docking calculations would be an added advantage. You will be expected to create protein models which will enable the prediction of the effect of limited protein sequence modifications. Your predictions will be instrumental in guiding our experimental work. Wed also like you to be:

  • Self-assured, self-starter, but able to work with our external collaborators/consultants

  • Tenacious

  • Excellent communicating complex concepts

  • Someone who thrives working in multidisciplinary teams

If you relish the prospect of being instrumental in the creation of a revolutionary new technology, Oxford NanoLabs would appreciate hearing from you.

Oxford NanoLabs offers you a competitive salary (commensurate with your level of experience), Company stock incentives, private health insurance and pension scheme.

As we are based in the UK and due to the desire to appoint rapidly, we are restricted to entertaining applications from EU citizens, or from individuals eligible to work in the UK.

Closing date for applications is 10th March 2008

We would be happy to receive applications in the form of a CV and covering letter, sent electronically to: info%a%oxfordnanolabs.com
