CONCISE :- Crystallography Information Server, List of Crystallographic Articles, Quick Reference Guide, and E-mail Access Help. CONCISE - The European Information Server ========================================= There is an abundance of up to date information concerning crystallography in Europe and worldwide on CONCISE, the European Information Server. You can connect to CONCISE by the command: telnet concise.level-7.co.uk (146.97.32.62) You log in with the :- userid: concise and password: concise You configure the terminal. Usually the best is: d vt100 You go to the crystallography section which is a sub-section of the special interest groups with: g /sigs/crystal The first item explains how items are to be submitted. ------------------------------------------------------ New Facilities on CONCISE ========================= The new "email" command allows documents to be emailed back to you during an interactive session. Type > at prompt which give you more menu options including the email command. =============================================================== =============================================================== CURRENT LIST OF ARTICLES (4th December 1993). User writes a set of instructions for the server. 2. User sends the set of instructions to CONCISE using electronic mail. 3. CONCISE obeys the instructions it receives in its electronic mail. 4. CONCISE sends the user the results of what it was instructed to do using electronic mail. 5. User receives the results through his/her electronic program. At the beginning of each message, before any commands are put in, you MUST include the following line: start This tells CONCISE to start obeying commands, anything put before this line will be ignored. Email address to send these commands to is: concise@concise.level-7.co.uk GETTING HELP =========== To get information on what you can do use the `help' command. Enter the following text in your message and send it: start help You will be sent a message giving very general help. The commands needed to retrieve a copy of the user-guide are: start goto /help/user-guide info In order to get information you must "goto" the item-id or the pathname (this is given in more detail in the user-guide) eg: start goto 774 info This will send you the file of information contained in item-id no 774 (Index of Acta Crystallographica Vol A48 Part 6) OR (`goto' the pathname) start goto /sigs/crystal/acrya49-03 info Information about ftp access is described in detail in the CONCISE Reference Manual. To retrieve this send the following commands to concise: start goto 65 info OR start goto /cosine/concise/cref info -- Lachlan Cranswick - CSIRO _--_|\ lachlan@dmp.CSIRO.AU Division of Mineral Products / \ tel +61 3 647 0367 PO Box 124, Port Melbourne \_.--._/ fax +61 3 646 3223 3207 AUSTRALIA v
