Subject: Xmol plans, a brief pre-announcement

To anyone interested in Xmol:


We are planning to make a slightly modified version of Xmol 1.3,
version 1.3.1, available by anonymous ftp.  

You will be pleased to know that our plans for version 1.3.1 
do NOT include a built-in 'time bomb' expiration date. 

Also, it appears we will not require foreign users
to get permission to use Xmol version 1.3.1.

Xmol uses the OSF/Motif libraries.  We want to use the latest version
of Motif to build Xmol.  Unfortunately, we are currently resolving some 
Motif licensing issues, as Motif 1.2 licensing is different than the 
previous Motif versions we have used.  We hope to have this worked out 
by the beginning of May.

We will have a longer, more complete announcement at that time.  Thanks
for your patience.
