From DSMITH@uoft02.utoledo.edu Sun Dec 27 19:07:56 1992 Date: Sun, 27 Dec 1992 23:07:56 -0400 (EDT) From: "DR. DOUGLAS A. SMITH, UNIVERSITY OF TOLEDO" Subject: reality check -- follow up To: mmodinfo@uoft02.utoledo.edu, hyperchem@autodesk.com, chemistry@ccl.net Message-Id: <01GSTSRGDUHK00095R@UOFT02.UTOLEDO.EDU> First, thank you to the over 100 of you who responded to my questions. Most answers were of interest and use, including those of either an anecdotal or policy nature. By the way, if you have not yet responded but were still planning on it, please do. Second, thank you for everyone who was sympathetic to the situation as described (which amounted to everyone who responded except 2). Most of you warned me that my posting could be the final straw in a negative tenure decision. Let me say that the fat lady has not yet sung, but she is waiting in the wings and was spotted before I posted. Third and most important. I plan to compile all of the replies, edit them so as to keep them anonymous, and make them available via anonymous ftp. Many of you were interested in the replies, and this would be the best way I can think of to let everyone know what was said. Several of you asked that your replies not be made available, and I will certainly respect your wishes and not include your mail in my compilation. Others of you may want to keep your responses private but may not have asked before. So, if you fall into this latter category, please send me another mail message asking that I do not include your mail. Finally, thank you for all the job offers or invitations to apply for positions. If I have not yet responded to you, I will shortly.
